November brought a few minor changes to AI in Quadratic, along with general bug fixes. AI agents can now take direct control of your spreadsheet, and our new prompt enhancer helps you build more effective plans.
AI agents control spreadsheets
AI agents in Quadratic can now take control of your spreadsheet just like a human collaborator. When an agent is working, you'll see it appear with its own cursor—just like any other user in the sheet. Watch as the agent navigates, selects cells, enters data, and performs actions in real-time. The AI will also assume an avatar in the sheet, mimicking the typical multiplayer experience of multiple users in a sheet.
This makes AI assistance more transparent and intuitive. You can see what the agent is currently focused on, follow along with its work, and understand its approach to solving your analytics questions.

Prompt enhancer
The new prompt enhancer transforms your ideas into actionable plans. Simply describe what you want to accomplish, and the prompt enhancer takes your existing prompt and builds it into a cohesive, step-by-step plan.
This is especially useful for complex tasks where you know what outcome you want but aren't sure how to break it down. The enhancer considers your data and existing content in the sheet, and creates a plan that the AI agent can execute effectively.

AI file naming
Files are now automatically named by AI if you don't set the name manually. When you create a new file and start working, Quadratic will intelligently generate a descriptive name based on your content and activity—so you can focus on the work instead of file management.
Simplified thinking UI
The AI's thinking process is now collapsed and summarized instead of displaying a lengthy wall of text. You can still expand the thinking section to see the full details, but the default view keeps the chat clean and focused on what matters most-the actual steps of the analysis
