Quadratic MCP FAQs

What is Quadratic MCP?

Quadratic MCP is our official Model Context Protocol server, hosted at https://mcp.quadratichq.com/. It gives AI clients like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and VS Code secure, authenticated access to read and write your Quadratic spreadsheets from any chat.

What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard developed by Anthropic that lets AI tools connect to third-party services through a unified interface. Instead of writing a custom integration for every AI client, Quadratic exposes one MCP server that any compatible AI can talk to.

Which AI clients can I use it with?

Any MCP-compatible client. We provide one-click install for Cursor and VS Code, and a 30-second setup guide for ChatGPT, Claude, and Windsurf. You can also configure it manually in any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP servers.

Is it secure?

Yes. The Quadratic MCP server uses OAuth 2.0 to authenticate each AI client with your Quadratic account. Your AI only sees the files and data you already have access to, and you can revoke any connected client at any time from Quadratic settings.

Do I need to install anything locally?

No. Quadratic MCP is a remote MCP server running at https://mcp.quadratichq.com/. There’s no binary to download, no Node.js to install, and no API keys to manage. Just point your AI client at the URL.

Does it cost extra?

No. Quadratic MCP is included with every Quadratic plan, including the free tier. You only need a Quadratic account and an AI client of your choice.

Can I use it with ChatGPT Free?

Custom connectors in ChatGPT currently require a Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise subscription. You can still use Quadratic MCP from Claude, Cursor, VS Code, or any other supported client on a free tier.

Can I build my own integration with Quadratic MCP?

Yes. Because Quadratic MCP follows the open Model Context Protocol spec, you can build custom agents, bots, or scripts on top of it. See the MCP docs at modelcontextprotocol.io for implementation details.
