July was an active month with many improvements and new features shipped.
Faster models
We shipped a faster Basic model in July. This fine-tuned model is designed to perform analytics tasks faster and more performantly in Quadratic. We still see minor outperformance from our Pro model, which we also upgraded to a smarter Thinking model. For users who prefer speed, Basic is the best choice. Pro is still the best model choice for users who prefer the best possible answer at all times.
Performance improvements
We've drastically improved performance on all fronts. Quadratic is pushing to the frontier of what performance is possible in the browser. Where other products shove all their compute on the cloud for infinite scaling, we've continued to focus on making the product extremely performant on-device in users' browsers. This month, we improved:
- File imports are much faster
- Formulas are now performant: can support many thousands instead of the prior bottleneck around a few hundred formulas
- Copying and moving large content is now much faster
Excel export
From the file menu, you can now Export to Excel from Quadratic.
Supports the data in your sheets, formulas, and formatting. Not supported:
- Charts
- Tables are exported as flattened data
- Code (Python, JavaScript, SQL)
New connections
This month, we've added some highly requested connections, including BigQuery, Supabase, Cockroach, Neon, and MariaDB.
